Course Details

The Theories of interior Design course is designed to explore the body of interior design theory. It provides the elementary tools for debating the discipline and introduces the students to the dialectic issues of modern and contemporary theories and the related ideologies behind the development of interior design styles. The course is a theoretical-based course that allows for reading comprehension and depends on analytical and descriptive approaches in developing arguments and running discussions.
Recently, in the Sultanate of Oman and worldwide, heritage reuse has been viewed as a source of identity empowerment and economic flourishing. Throughout the Adaptive Reuse in Historic Buildings course a discussion about the importance of ensuring tangible and intangible sustainability of heritage will be conducted based on theoretical platforms. In addition, the challenge of the reuse of historical buildings will be addressed. Moreover, examining the practice and concept of adaptive reuse of historic buildings in diverse cultural, social, political and economic environment is included.
The Interior Design Professional Practice course extends the learners’ interior design professional knowledge about construction stages, document preparation, and the main responsibilities and duties of Interior designers during all stages of the project based on the requirements of the national Omani construction market.
he Interior design thinking Course reviews the theories of creative designing thinking and their applications in Interior Design. It addresses the cognition theories of design thinking as a framework to structure the information of creation theory in design with special focus on forming design concepts and their application in Interior design. Based on analytical studies, the course investigates the strategies, techniques and tools in which creative Interior concepts are created from old ones.

Undergraduate degree from a recognized college/ university with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4 point scale (B average) or equivalent grade.
