Introduction: SCD English Club organized a slogan writing competition entitled
“48th Glorious National Day of Oman” for GFP students.
Objective: The objective of the event was to enhance students’ thinking and creative skills. In addition to that, it was an effort to make them write few words in English on a familiar topic.
The competition was announced on 15st of October, 2018 and submission date was on 31st of October, 2018. Students were provided with the basic material and guidelines to do their work.
Thirty GFP students enrolled but only eighteen students submitted their slogan till the deadline.
The winner was announced on 14th of November, 2018 in the glass gallery. Dean Dr. Mona Ismail and Deputy Dean Mr. Imad Adel marked the event with their presence as the chief guests. The head of English Department and English club in charge Ms. Pooja introduced the aim of the event to them. Dr. Mona Ismail appreciated the work done by students and encouraged them to excel in upcoming competitions.
GFP 3 students were also given the right to vote for evaluating the slogans. They enthusiastically participated and shared their views.
Marwa Hafedh Sulaiman Al Harasi, a GFP 2 student, achieved the winning trophy. Zainab bint Saleh Al Balushi and Sanaa Salim Al Kharusi, students of GFP 3, were announced the 1st and the 2nd runner up respectively.
All the participants were given a certificate of appreciation.
This event was successful in bringing GFP students to a level where they initiated themselves for the participation.
